Dry Kway Teow with dark soy sauce - RM4.00

Its Kway Teow with dark soy sauce is a famous main dish here and it normally will be eaten with the abalone soup. It is a good combination. The Kway Teow used the dark soy sauce match with the lard and onion oil to increase its fragrance. Basically I will add its homemade “sambal” to churn it and it will be more spicy and tasty if you want to do so. Good!

4th Stop - MRJ

MRJ is a famous burger stall that provided their unique style of their burgers.

It is located at the street nearby the Permas Jaya’s McDonald, Johor Bahru. It is just using a lorry to do their burger business since a long time ago. All of the works are also doing on the lorry. It is a special phenomenon and unique way to attract customers to come and try it at the first time.

The lorry of MRJ.

Double Beef Egg with Cheese – RM6.00

Double Chicken Egg with Cheese – RM5.50

Actually, most of the burger stalls will just grill the meat and put it in the bun with the ingredients such as lettuce, sliced cucumber and sliced tomato with chilli sauce only. But the burger here is different with others. It will cut the meat and put the onion in the middle of it with curry powder and the special sauce which is made by them. So it will increase its fragrance of burger. That’s why MRJ has become popular among the residents in Permas Jaya even attracts the other residents from other areas. Sometimes, the customers might take 1 hour to wait for its burger to serve for them as well. Nice!

What is burger?

The name of hamburger is formerly from the city of Germany - Hamburg. It is a sandwich consisting of a cooked patty of ground meat and it placed inside a sliced bread roll or bun. It usually uses beef but haply pork, turkey or a combination of meats as the patty of ground meat. Burgers are usually served with onion, tomato, bacon, lettuce, pickles, cheese and condiments such as mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup and relish.

Lesson 9 - BBQ Beef Burger Recipe

In fact, the burger here is nicer than others that I have eaten before. Its stall is located at the street beside the road so it looks like the street culture that appeared in Malaysia – the Pasar Malam which means the night market. They are doing their business at the street and their customers can enjoy their burger there or take away to go home. Other than that, they also provide delivery service for their customers as well!

Salmon is a popular food especially in Japan and it classified as an ‘oily fish’. Salmon flesh is normally orange to red although there are some examples of white-fleshed. It is considered to be healthy due to the fish’s high omega-3 fatty acids, high protein and vitamin D content.

Its Teriyaki Chicken is using the Teriyaki sauce to grill the chicken and it also adds some sliced fried egg around the chicken to increase some fragrance of fried egg for it. Its taste quite special. Yummy!

What is Teriyaki?
Teriyaki is a cooking technique used in Japan cuisine in which foods are grilled or boiled in a sweet soy sauce marinade (tare). Fish is generally used in Japan while meat like pork, lamb, chicken and beef are more used in the West. Other ingredients sometimes used in Japan such as squid, meatball and hamburger steak. The tare is traditionally made by heating and mixing sake, mirin or soy sauce with honey or sugar. Sometimes ginger will be added and the final dish may be garnished with green onions.

Baked Cheese Cake – RM5.80

The dessert that I wish to recommend is the baked cheese cake here. Its baked cheese cake is nice and you can enjoy it very well because the taste of it will not make you feel greasy after you have finished it.
